Dr.
Edward Robeck is an Associate Professor of science
education at Salisbury University. He holds a B.S. in
Natural Sciences Education and an M.A. in Curriculum and
Instruction in Science Education from the University of
Nebraska, Lincoln. Dr. Robeck was a middle school
teacher in Nebraska before working in educational
publishing and electronic media development on several
national-level projects.
He then earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction
in Science Education from the University of British
Columbia, Vancouver, BC, where he was a research
assistant for the Third International Mathematics and
Science Study (TIMSS). His areas of concentration are
the social context of science education, inquiry-based
curriculum, public understanding of the nature of
science and the use of technology in science
instruction.
Currently he teaches elementary/middle school science
methods courses, as well as graduate courses in research
and trends in science education. He also provides
regular and ongoing in-service professional development
to teachers regionally and nationally. His current
research interests are in the international context of
science education and the use of Internet-based learning
objects in science instruction. He is pursuing this
research with colleagues in Malaysia, where he will
spend the spring 2008 semester as a Fulbright Scholar.
