Faculty

Dr. Dorsey Hammond is a Professor of Education at Salisbury University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Washington College, Chestertown, MD, a M.Ed. in Reading Education and a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware, DE. His concentration is in Literacy Education for undergraduate and graduate students.

Dr. Hammond is currently serving as vice president of the Maryland College Reading Professors and he also serves on the Reading Doctoral Proposal Committee in the education department. Critical thinking is one of Dr. Hammond’s interests, which he has presented on this topic at a Salisbury University Professional Development Day.

Dr. Hammond has presented twice internationally, four times nationally, three times regionally and many times locally on topics like methods of dissemination that allows for an exchange of ideas with the audience. He is a member of the American Association of University Professors, a member of the International Reading Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, the National Reading Conference, and the Michigan Early Literacy Study Group, Michigan Dept. of Education.
