Dr. Ernest Bond
Dr. Ernest Bond is an Associate Professor of
Education at Salisbury University. He holds a Bachelor’s
degree in Anthropology/Sociology from Kenyon College,
OH; an M.A. in Black Studies and a Ph.D. in Education
from The Ohio State University. His area of
concentration is Children’s Literature. Dr. Bond
supervises teaching candidates who are in New Zealand
and teaches International Children’s Literature courses
abroad during the summers.
Dr. Bond is the 2006- 2007 recipient of the Maryland
Regent’s Award for Teaching Excellence. This is the
highest honor that the University of Maryland Board of
Regents bestows to recognize exemplary faculty
achievement.
Dr. Bond has authored and co-authored books (Interactive
Assessment and Literature and the Young Adult
Reader), chapters (in Harry Potter’s World),
articles (in Theory into Practice, Journal of
Children’s Literature), and book reviews (Bookbird,
School Library Journal). He is also a
member of the United States Board on Books for Young
People (USBBY), The International Reading Association
(IRA), The State of Maryland International Reading
Association (SOMIRAC) and a member of the NCTE (National
Council of Teachers of English).
