Elementary Education
Welcome to the Elementary Education (ELED) Program in the Department
of Teacher Education, housed in the Seidel School of Education
and Professional Studies at Salisbury University. Our faculty
and staff members are committed to preparing prospective
teachers and we look forward to working with you.
Our work is guided by a conceptual framework centered on
knowledge, skills and dispositions, critical for today’s
educators to promote student success. You can find information
about our Conceptual Framework’s specific themes and associated
learning outcomes at
http://www.Salisbury.edu/Schools/Seidel/cf.html
As a teacher candidate majoring in Elementary Education, you
are expected to complete a rigorous program of study which
meets state and national standards. This program is accredited
by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education
and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education for
elementary school teacher certification (Grades 1-6 & Middle).
Candidates who successfully complete our requirements graduate
with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Teacher
Education in the Seidel School of Education and Professional
Studies.
We encourage you to carefully review all
information in the Academics Menu and note
the following important links:
ELED/ECED Handbook,
Deadlines & Other Very
Important Dates, Program
Admission,
Transfer Recommendations, and
Application to Professional Teacher Education Program.
Although you are expected to meet regularly with your
assigned faculty advisor to discuss your progress, you
are
responsible for meeting all ELED requirements, as well as the
general requirements outlined in the University Catalog.
Best wishes as you prepare to enter the teaching profession.
