Dr. Cathrene Connery

Dr. Cathrene Connery: Dr. Connery is an Associate Professor of Literacy and Children’s Literature. A bi-literacy educator, researcher, and advocate for over thirty years, Dr. Connery has collaborated and consulted with students, teachers, and families in Illinois, Colorado, Washington State, New York, and on the Yakama nation. She has drawn on Vygotskian theory and her visual arts education to inform her research and professional activities in language, literacy, and sociocultural studies. Connery has presented on theoretical, pedagogic, and programmatic concerns surrounding the education of culturally and linguistically diverse learners in the United States. Her current research interests include the education of learners who are refugees, multicultural teacher education, children’s literature, biliteracy and the development of first and second languages, semiotics, sociopolitical issues in development, learning, and education.

Monday 1:00 - 3:00

Tuesday 2:00 - 4:00

Wednesday 1:00 - 2:00
