Dr. Claudia Burgess
Dr. Claudia Burgess is a Professor
of Education for Elementary school candidates at
Salisbury University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from
CA State University Fresno, a M.A. from Fresno Pacific
University and a Ph.D. from University of Illinois. Her
area of concentration is in Curriculum and Instruction,
Mathematics Education. In addition she has completed an
Interdisciplinary Concentration in Cultural Studies and
Interpretive Research.
Dr. Burgess stated her career as a 5th/6th
grade math teacher in 1990. Since then she taught
various levels from pre-school to college. Her interests
include teacher education and research on diverse
mathematics’ topics.
Dr. Burgess has presented at the 1st
International Conference of Qualitative Inquiry,
Illinois in 2005 and at the Conference on Curriculum
Theory and Classroom Practice in 2003. She has also been
a member of AERA (American Education Research
Association), NCTM (National Council of Teachers of
Mathematics), NEA (National Education Association) and a
member of SSSI (Society for the Study of Symbolic
Interaction).
