Dr. Claudia Burgess
Dr. Claudia Burgess is a Professor of
Education for Elementary school candidates at Salisbury
University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from CA State
University Fresno, a M.A. from Fresno Pacific University and a
Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Her area
of concentration is in Curriculum and Instruction, Mathematics
Education. In addition she has completed an Interdisciplinary
Concentration in Cultural Studies and Interpretive Research and
holds Maryland Administrative I and II certificates.
Dr. Burgess started her career as a 5th/6th
grade math teacher in 1990. Since then she has taught various
levels from pre-school to college. Her interests include teacher
education and research on diverse mathematics’ topics.
Dr. Burgess has presented at a number of diverse national and
regional conferences. She has conducted presentations that
focus on integrating mathematics with social studies, English
language arts, science, physical education, and outdoor
education. She has worked on a significant number of state
and federal grants and often provides professional development
to teachers on the Eastern Shore.
