Accreditation
The teacher preparation programs at Salisbury
University are fully accredited by the National Council
for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE),
and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
Additionally, the Early Childhood and dual major in
Early Childhood and Elementary programs are accredited
by the National Association of Education for Young
Children (NAEYC). The Elementary Teacher
Preparation Program is accredited by the Association for
Childhood Education International (ACEI)
These combined accreditations provide substantial
validation of the merits of each program. Requirements
include preparation in a broad range of liberal arts,
sciences, and math, field experiences integrated with
methodology, a minor program of study in a content area,
and a final yearlong internship in a Professional
Development School.
In addition to the accrediting agencies and specialty
area associations mentioned above, and in accordance
with Title II of the Higher Education Act of 1998,
Praxis II pass rates are published and updated yearly. (Title II)
Salisbury University teacher candidates have
consistently scored at or above the state average in
recent years.
