As a teacher candidate majoring in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education, you are expected to complete a rigorous program of study which meets state and national standards. This program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education for elementary school teacher certification (Grades 1-6) and early childhood certification (Grades Pre-K-3). Candidates who successfully complete our requirements graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Teacher Education in the Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies.
We encourage you to carefully review all information in the AAT Quick Links. Although you are expected to meet regularly with your assigned faculty advisor to discuss your progress, you are responsible for meeting all education program requirements, as well as the general requirements outlined in the University Catalog.
