Welcome to the education programs in the Department
of Teacher Education, housed in the Seidel School of Education
and Professional Studies at Salisbury University. Our faculty
and staff members are committed to preparing prospective
teachers and we look forward to working with you. Best wishes as
you prepare to enter the teaching profession!
Our work is guided by a conceptual framework centered on
knowledge, skills and dispositions, critical for today’s
educators to promote student success. You can find information
about our Conceptual Framework’s specific themes and associated
learning outcomes at

As a teacher candidate majoring in Elementary Education
or Early Childhood Education, you
are expected to complete a rigorous program of study which
meets state and national standards. This program is accredited
by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education
and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education for
elementary school teacher certification (Grades 1-6)
and early childhood certification (Grades pk-3).
Candidates who successfully complete our requirements graduate
with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Teacher
Education in the Seidel School of Education and Professional
Studies.
We encourage you to carefully review all
information in the AAT
Quick Links. Although you are expected to meet regularly with your
assigned faculty advisor to discuss your progress, you
are
responsible for meeting all education program requirements, as well as the
general requirements outlined in the University Catalog.
