Checklist for new students: what to bring to PREVIEW

May

Complete the FAFSA form

If you are interested in applying for financial aid the On-line FAFSA application should be completed as soon as possible after January 1st.

Pay Acceptance Fee

This is due by May 1st to guarantee a room in one of the residence halls on campus.

Decide on an Experiential Program

You will receive a packet in the mail outlining all the experiential programs offered at Salisbury University. If you choose to attend one of these programs you should send in your application as soon as possible, because it is first come first serve and the trips fill up fast!

Receive Orientation (PREVIEW) Date

You will receive a date for PREVIEW in the mail, if you are unable to attend PREVIEW on the date you are scheduled, please call the Admissions office to reschedule. 410-543-6161

June

Attend PREVIEW

June 19th -23rd and June 26th -30th. For Transfer Students PREVIEW is July 11th, 12th and 13th. You only are required to attend the one day of PREVIEW you were assigned. Registration and check-in is 8am-9am the morning of your PREVIEW day.

To be completed at Orientation:

  1. Placement Exam

    If you wish to take a foreign language you will need to take a placement exam which will be offered between 8am and 9am on the day you attend orientation.
     
  2. Gull Card

    You will get your picture taken and receive your gull card during orientation. The gull card may be used for an array of things, don’t worry if you don’t get it during orientation you won’t need your card until move in day. You can get your gull card the morning of move in day in the gull card office which is located in the basement of the Commons building next to the book store.
     
  3. Register for Classes

    On the day of orientation you will register for classes. If you don’t get into all the classes you want, there will be another opportunity for you to try. The drop/add period begins August 14, and continues until September 1st. During this time all students can sign up for classes or drop the ones they currently have. You can change your class schedule through Gull Net, which you may access using your username and password you were given during PREVIEW.

Health Forms

Complete the health forms provided by Health Services. You will be provided a list of vaccines you need to get before you attend college. Send the health forms and immunization records to health services. Room 180 Holloway Hall Salisbury University, Salisbury MD, 21801.

August

Choose a Meal Plan

Decide on a meal plan that will best suit you. To sign up for a meal plan send the bill correction form you will receive with your SU billing packet to the Cashier’s office in Holloway Hall. Holloway Hall 219 Salisbury University, Salisbury Maryland 21801.

Move-in

August 24th. Get ready for Survival of Arrival beginning at 8am on August 24th!

 

Other things before start of school:

Call your roommate

You will receive your roommate information in the mail by the end of July. It is a good idea to call your roommate and discuss who will bring common items such as the TV, refrigerator or phone. If you don’t live to far away from you roommate you may consider setting up a time to meet your roommate before you arrive at school.

Open a SECU account

SECU (State Employee Credit Union) is a full-service financial institution offering a variety of services to students, parents and state of Maryland employees.

Go Shopping

You are moving away from home, there is a list of goods that you might find useful to bring to school. If you don’t have some of these items it may be a good time to go shopping for them.

Don’t worry if you forget any of these items, there will be van rides to Walmart on the day of move in (August 24th) from 10pm -1am.

Email

As a student at Salisbury University you receive a Salisbury University email account. Try using your new email account by emailing a friend. You may also have your email forwarded from your Salisbury University account to your personal account. Instructions are included in your PREVIEW registration packet, or they can be obtained from:
