SSO Artist Spotlight will feature a different SSO artist each for concert of the season. Our current spotlight is on violinist Bobbie Thamert. Please enjoy and please look for our spotlighted artist at our next concert.

What type of art do you create?
Music

Describe your artwork/ performance style.
I play the classical violin

When did you start creating your art?
I began playing the violin when I was around 8 yrs old

What inspires you?
I am inspired by the arts as a whole. I love to look at beautiful artwork watch dance performances, and music of all genres.

What are the challenges of creating your art?
I have problems with my neck and spine. At times my hands have pain in them, and I can not play.

I teach strings in the Wicomico county Schools

Do you have a job outside of your art?
No.

Who is your favorite artist?
Joshua Bell

Where in the community can your artwork be seen/heard?
I play in the Salisbury Symphony orchestra, The Asbury orchestra and in a string trio.

What do you think the Eastern Shore can do to improve its arts scene? I would like to see string programs in all of the schools throughout the Shore. Right now only Wicomico has a program for all levels, Worcester is starting a program in the elementary school in Berlin. It would be wonderful to see this happening in all counties.
