Tammy Kilgore, a graduate of Worcester Preparatory School and Salisbury University, has recently accepted the position of Manager for the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra. Prior to this, she served on the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra Advisory Board as Chairman. Her passion for classical music leads her commitment to be involved with the SSO. With an extensive background in music and marketing, Tammy is fulfilling her goal to work with the SSO and promote what she believes is a true gem in our community. She is married to Brian Kilgore and together they own Eastern Shore Coffee and Water. Their sons, Troy, Cash, and Jordan Kilgore, share her love of music and both enjoy performing locally. Tammy recently graduated in May of 2014 with a second bachelors degree in music.
John Rankin grew up in a household surrounded by music, as his mother was an opera singer in the Philadelphia La Scala Opera Company during the 1940’s. From a young age he listened to operatic and symphonic music played on vinyl 12-inch albums. Metropolitan Opera radio broadcasts, sponsored by Texaco, were standard fare at home every Saturday afternoon during the 1960’s.
In 1972 he attended his first live opera at the Lincoln Center in New York City: Bellini’s “La sonnambula.” Living in the Washington, DC area for 30 years gave Rankin the opportunity to attend live performances at the Kennedy Center and the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra auditorium. With a love for classical music spanning more than 50 years, he describes membership on the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra advisory board as an honor and a blessing to hear talented musicians from the performing arts.
