Advising
Advising is an important part of your educational experience
at SU. Each social work student is assigned an advisor in the
Department - your
GullNet
account will list his or her name.
You will meet with your advisor once in the Fall and once
again in the Spring to talk about your plan for the following
semester. Sign up sheets will appear on your advisor's door a
week before advising begins so that you can make an appointment.
It is your responsibility to make sure you schedule your
appointment!
Advising is the time to ask questions about your course of
study or any other questions you may have related to your
education. Advisors can also talk with you about your
post-graduation plans. Remember, your advisor has been in the
same seat you are in now and is a great source of information!
After you have met with your advisor, you will be cleared to
register for the following semester. Make sure you come prepared
to your advising meeting and are ready to register once your
registration period opens. Classes fill up fast!
You are ultimately responsible for making sure you have met
all of the requirements for graduation. It is a good idea to
check on your program progress in GullNet to be sure you are
on-track.
