In order to apply to the BASW program, and be accepted, you must:
Have achieved junior standing with at least 45 completed credits (preferably closer to 60)
Meet with the Program Coordinator to discuss an academic plan outlining your path to graduation.
Complete the following 7 courses with a grade of C or better and a GPA of 2.7:
Introduction to Sociology (SOCI 101)
General Psychology (PSYC 101)
Statistics (Comparable to SU’s MATH 155)
Biological Science with Lab (Comparable to SU’s BIOL 101, 215, or 216)
Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare (SOWK 200)
Human Behavior and the Social Environment I (SOWK 300)
Basic Interviewing Skills (SOWK 310)
Earn a total cumulative GPA of 2.5, including all courses taken for credit at any institution that are transferred into Salisbury University
Disclose any convictions and meet with faculty
Disclose any university judicial proceedings
Describe any prior social service experience
Demonstrate the capacity to engage in appropriate professional social work roles on and off campus as measured by the Professional Performance Reviews which will be completed by instructors in SOWK 200, 300, 310.
Complete the online application, including the submission of an essay (no more than 1000 words).
Salisbury University requires that students earn 120 credits distributed across General Education requirements, major requirements, and electives. On the left side of the sheet you will find the General Education requirements and on the right side of the sheet you will find the major requirements. You should meet with the Program Coordinator to develop a plan of study.
