Beginning March of 2014, the Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare course in the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) program will be offered in the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC), Germany.

The BASW is a professional degree which makes it different from another sort of major.  The Council on Social Work Education, the body which accredits social work education programs, says that a student must be accepted into the BASW program.  As such you are expected to become a professional and to demonstrate professional behavior while completing your BASW.  If you are admitted into the BASW program you will undertake a field placement near the end of your program of study while you are taking advanced practice and research courses.  You will graduate as a generalist social work practitioner.  If you do well, you will be eligible to apply for the Master’s program.
