Foundation Curriculum

The foundation curriculum comprises the first year of the regular full-time program and consists of 30 hours of coursework and field education. Building on a liberal arts base, foundation courses address the knowledge and skills associated with generalist social work practice. We also examine the core values, ethics, and philosophy of social work in preparation for advanced social work practice. Click here for information on the foundation curriculum program objectives.

Concentration Curriculum

The concentration curriculum comprises the second year of the regular full-time program and is the curriculum for the advanced standing program. The concentration curriculum consists of 32 hours of advanced coursework and field education. The concentration curriculum focuses on community-based direct practice and builds upon successful mastery of foundation knowledge and skills. Students at the concentration level learn to use an evidence-based practice perspective to develop appropriate interventions for individuals, families, and groups.
