“Breathe Easy” at SU Kick Off Event
On Wednesday, September 1, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. SU kicked off
its “Breathe Easy” campaign in Red Square. The event
provided more information about the new Smoke-Free Campus policy and
alternatives to smoking.
Several organizations were in attendance to answer questions about
becoming a smoke-free individual and to provide information
about local cessation programs. These groups included the
Wicomico County Health Department, American Lung
Association,
American Cancer Society and Peninsula Regional Medical Center,
among others. Information regarding University-sponsored
cessation programs was provided by Student Health
Services and the Counseling Center.
The event also featured giveaways and games, including a dunk
tank booth with Wicomico County State’s Attorney Davis Ruark! Light refreshments
were provided.
Co-sponsored by the Student Affairs Wellness Committee,
Healthy U of Delmarva, the Student Government Association and
Colleges Against Cancer, the event was free and all members of
the campus community were invited.
