Dear Campus Community,

Recently, benches and disposal containers were installed on the periphery of the main campus primarily for the use of smokers. The addition of these designated smoking areas was in response to numerous concerns expressed by members of the campus community, citizens and the motoring public regarding the safety of smokers. It was abundantly clear that those desiring to smoke were actually doing so on the travel portions of the roadways around campus.

This action does not eliminate Salisbury University’s Smoke-Free Campus policy. The University Police will continue to investigate smoking complaints and enforce internal regulations when warranted. Smokers are strongly urged to utilize the designated areas and to respect the smoking policy which prohibits the use of tobacco products in non-designated locations. Attached is a campus map which shows the locations of the designated smoking areas.
