Graduate Student Tutoring

The SU graduate students in the Reading master’s program are required to tutor students as part of their coursework. Most of the graduate students are classroom teachers who live and work in the local area. The tutoring may occur in a one-on-one setting or in small groups and is for one hour one evening each week. The SU instructor oversees the tutors and their interactions with children. Tutoring occurs for 20 weeks. One the final evening of the session the tutor will meet with the parent/guardian to share the results of the tutoring experience and make recommendations for the future. A written report will also be mailed to the parent/guardian.
