Jennifer Holm, three-time winner of the Newbery Medal


Adrian Fogelin, author of Crossing Jordan

Children’s and Young Adult Literature Festival in April 2016

Author Jennifer Holm has been the recipient of the Newbery honor three times, for Penny from Heaven, Our Only May Amelia and Turtle in Paradise! Her Babymouse series is the recipient of the Eisner Award. Her other graphic novel series, Squish, is a New York Times bestseller.

Holm speaks at Salisbury University as the opening event for the Children’s and Young Adult Literature Festival on Sunday, April 12, at 10 a.m. in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Events continue the evening of Tuesday, April 14, when author Adrian Fogelin speaks at the Young Author Reception (co-sponsored by the Eastern Shore Reading Council). Fogelin is well known for her middle-grade novels set in Tallahassee, FL, her hometown. Her novel Crossing Jordan was the first book to bring her national (and international) attention. She has won numerous awards since, including two Florida Book Award gold medals, a Green Earth Book Award Honor and The Social Justice Literature Award.

Saturday, April 16, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., an array of authors, illustrators and experts in the field lead sessions on children’s and young adult literature in the Curriculum Resource Center of the Teacher Education and Technology Center. Stay tuned for further details.
