A Message from the Dean
Greetings and Happy Holidays!
Dean of the Seidel School,
Dr. Kelly Fiala
Greetings Faculty, Alumni and Friends,
It is hard to believe we are approaching the end of another semester and even another calendar year. As I reflect on the year, I am overwhelmed by the accomplishments of our Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies faculty and students. We are excited to share these updates with you in this edition of our eNews. Please take a moment to review the links and update yourself on Seidel happenings. You will see a variety of stories representing all Seidel departments.
At this time, I also provide an update on our newest faculty member. This year, we were fortunate to have Dr. Allessia Owens join our Social Work Department faculty. Allessia earned her Ph.D. at Howard University majoring in social work with a specialization in health, mental health and trauma. She began her higher education experience at the University of Michigan, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in social work. Her research interests include military service members and mental health, secondary traumatic stress, and trauma-exposed college students. She has already proven to be a valuable member of our team.
In addition to providing individual updates about faculty, students and programs in the eNews, I would like to highlight our new programs. This year, we accepted our second cohort into the Doctor of Education in Contemporary Curriculum Theory and Instruction: Literacy Program and our first cohort into the Online Master of Social Work Program. We are currently accepting applications for both programs and the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program, scheduled to begin July 2016.
Thank you for staying connected with Salisbury University and the Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies. I hope you enjoy this edition of our eNews.
