Welcome to the Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology offers a program leading to a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, providing the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue study in psychology beyond the B.A., or to obtain employment in liberal arts or human services fields.

Psychology is the scientific study of the principles governing behavior and mental processes in humans and other animals and the application of these principles for the well being of both.  The mission of the Department of Psychology at Salisbury University is to advance the discipline of psychology by providing a high-quality education for student's in the methods, theories, research, and applications of psychology.  In keeping with the mission of the university, the department provides General Education courses for the entire university, provides courses that support interdisciplinary minors and provides courses integral to the professional programs, such as nursing and the elementary and secondary education programs.  Our faculty engages in teaching, research, and service, all of which enhance the university, the community, and the discipline of psychology.  By providing a solid foundation in the principles of psychology, we prepare our students both for careers in psychology, which require graduate school, and for entry into the increasingly diverse workforce and society.

Salisbury University will no longer accept applications for admission to a Master of Arts in Psychology. We will, however, continue to serve SU students currently enrolled in this graduate program, and strive to assure they complete their degrees in a timely manner.
