New Student Orientation 2013 Photo Galleries

New Student Orientation is an exciting time when all new students arrive at Salisbury University and settle into their lives as Sea Gulls. For members of the Powerful Connections Program, orientation began a little early on August 18, and they were joined by the remainder of the approximately 1,260-member Freshman Class on August 22 – Move In Day. After a busy morning settling into their residence halls, on-campus students and their families took a break to enjoy the vendors and activities at Survival of Arrival. Later in the day, President Janet Dudley-Eshbach officially welcomed the Class of 2017 at a festive ceremony followed by an ice cream social – a welcome break from the heat. The next morning, students were introduced to the academic community at Convocation and listened to speaker Judy Shepard, author of this year’s New Student Reader, The Meaning of Matthew: My Son’s Murder in Laramie, and a World Transformed. Shepard gave a community lecture the night before and met with the winners of the New Student Reader essay contest. These orientation activities and more serve to assist students in their adjustment to the University and point them in the right direction for success and growth at SU.
