Statement on Unrecognized Groups

The fraternities and/or sororities listed below were once recognized by Salisbury University, but have had their recognition revoked for various reasons, including, but not limited to: hazing, alcohol and drug infractions, risk management violations, and/or failure to comply with University policies and expectations. The following groups have lost University and/or National recognition in the past five years:

  • Kappa Sigma Fraternity: All sanctions issued to Kappa Sigma Fraternity have been completed and Kappa Sigma has been restored to participate within the campus community, effective spring semester 2015.  The Kappa Sigma chapter will remain on probation through the end of the fall 2015 semester.
  • Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity: Suspended by University and National organization through Summer 2015; eligible at the end of Summer 2015 for review to return as an active SU fraternity for Fall 2015, on probation thereafter through Spring Semester 2017.
  • Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity: Suspended by University and National organization through Summer 2015.

Please note that some fraternities and/or sororities once recognized on campus may attempt to operate off campus, despite having lost recognition from the University. Contact the Division of Student Affairs (410-543-6080) if you have any questions about whether or not the group you may want to join is recognized or if you would like more information.

The information provided above may be subject to, and in some instances limited by, federal and state privacy laws.
