Salisbury University celebrated its inaugural Research Day and Innovation Showcase on Friday, September 27. Throughout the afternoon, faculty, staff, students and community members enjoyed eight TED-style talks on “ideas worth spreading.” Delivered by faculty members from all four of SU’s schools, the topics ranged from community-based research and the politics of garbage, to studies of frogs, free trade agreements and the relationship between theory and practice, to the use of gaming technology to support GIS projects, sport intervention to aid children of war and mobile apps to boost student employment. Wearing an official “Research, Connect, Create” T-shirt, SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach welcomed campus, business and civic leaders who attended the evening showcase. “Research and academic excellence are thriving at Salisbury University,” she said. Over 20 organizations and initiatives were featured, with representatives who were eager and willing to talk about the valuable and creative resources they offer for the Delmarva community.
