Good afternoon, Mr. Chairman and Members of the Subcommittee.

I’d like to begin by thanking you for your hard work, commitment, and perseverance as you represent the people of Maryland and recommit to public higher education in our State. The Governor’s recommended budget increase for the University System of Maryland institutions would provide funds that are sorely needed to address challenges in staffing, employment benefits, delayed facilities maintenance, and affordability.
