Electricity

• Deriving power from 100 percent renewable energy sources
(made possible by contribution from John and Patti Proctor)
• Reducing usage 30 percent through conservation measures
(made possible by Ward Museum staff and Salisbury University's PEPCO initiative)

Purchasing and Waste Reduction

• Created a Sustainable Purchasing Policy (in partnership with Salisbury University's ABLE internship program)
• Reducing, Reusing and Recycling in all sectors of museum work

Storm Water

• Installed rain garden and rain barrels on south side of museum
(in partnership with Lower Shore Tributary Team and Chesapeake Bay Gateway Network)
• Monitoring water quality of Schumaker Pond
(in partnership with Wicomico Creekwatchers)

Habitat and Wildlife

• Improving grounds by incorporating native plantings
(in partnership with Lower Shore Land Trust)
• Installed bird feeding garden, fishing pier and observation scope 
(in partnership with Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network)
• Participating in Project Feeder Watch program
(in partnership with museum volunteers and Cornell Center for Ornithology)
• Offering Discovery Packs for exploration of nature trail and grounds (in partnership with Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network)

Promoting a Conservation Message

• Supporting SU’s pledge to the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment
• Serving 10,000 students annually with environmental education programs
(in partnership with the Maryland State Department of Education)
• Assisting areas schools in becoming Green Schools
(in partnership with Maryland Association for Outdoor and Environmental Education)
