Wallet Thefts / Office Security (June 28, 2005)

On Thursday, June 23rd, between 11 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. a wallet was stolen from a handbag located behind a desk in an office on the first floor of Henson Hall.  The victim's stolen credit card was used to make purchases in Salisbury and Princess Anne.

From time to time we will have this type of crime on campus.  A suspect will walk into an unoccupied office and look for wallets.  In the past, when a suspect was seen by a member of the campus community, he would say that he was looking for someone.

Thieves know that wallet/purses are left behind desks or in unlocked desk and file cabinet drawers.  To decrease your chance of becoming a victim, follow these crime prevention tips:
*Lock your office even if you leave for only a minute.
*Take your wallet/purse with you.

Report suspicious persons or activity to University Police, 410-543-6222.
