This morning there were shootings in Laurel and Delmar, DE and in Wicomico County west of Salisbury, three miles from the University.

There has been an arrest in connection with one or more of the shootings. University Police has an officer at the Police Command Post at the armory on Route 50. We have been monitoring this situation all morning for potential risks to the campus community. The Wicomico County School System had a "lock down" earlier today, which has now been lifted.

Local police are investigating the crime scene in the area of Rt. 50, Booth Street and Chippewa. Local TV stations are broadcasting live reports with more details on their web sites. If there are any further developments, University Police will e-mail a special bulletin with the latest information.
