This information is being made public by the following police departments: Salisbury Police, Fruitland Police, Maryland State Police, Wicomico County Sheriff's Office and the Salisbury University Police.
The Wicomico Bureau of Investigation Press Release - March 3, 2004
- Since August 2002 there have been three rape investigations conducted in Wicomico County, which have been linked to the same rapist.
- Each of the three rapes occurred in the early morning hours.
- At least three additional rapes and one believed recent unsuccessful attempt have been reported and are believed to be connected to this rapist.
- Analysis of the above investigations strongly indicates that the suspect may have surveilled the southern end of the Salisbury and Fruitland areas and targeted victims.
- Some of the victims had been out late that night and were possibly seen by the rapist.
- Some of the victims have been asleep inside their residence when the suspect broke in and subsequently raped the victim.
- The rapist may or may not use a vehicle for transportation.
- The rapist is believed to be: African American male, light to medium complexion, medium build, and between 20 and 30 years of age.
In an effort to keep all members of the university community informed about these crimes and others, the University Police will issue additional information as it becomes available. If you have any information about these crimes or others, you are asked to call the Salisbury Police, 410-548-3165, or Crime Solvers, 410-548-1776. Police officers will be on duty tonight, 3/3/04, to receive information.

The Salisbury Police Department offers free Home Security Surveys to assess the security of your residence and to give you safety tips. To schedule a survey call the victim/witness coordinator at 410-548-3113. University Police will be available to assist Salisbury Police with these surveys at student off-campus housing.
