Recent Off-Campus Incidents (November 14, 2003)

When incidents occur on or off campus that may be of interest or concern to students, faculty and staff, the University Police will issue Special Bulletins in an effort to keep the campus community informed. Please see the following two press releases that have been issued by the Salisbury Police.

November 12, 2003
On November 11, 2003 at approximately 11:55 PM, officers of the Salisbury Police Department responded to the area of the State Employees Credit Union on Mt. Hermon Road for the report of a robbery. The responding officers met with the victim who reported that after retrieving US Currency from the ATM machines, she was approached by a lone suspect who produced a handgun and took the currency.

The victim reported that the suspect appeared from beside the building as she exited the ATM area. The suspect is described as an African-American male, approximately 5'11" tall, thin, with a black hat and sweatshirt and blue jeans. The suspect fled from the area on foot and the victim was not injured.

November 14, 2003
On Thursday, November 13, 2003 at approximately 9:30 PM, officers of the Salisbury Police Department responded to the area of University Terrace Apartments for the report of an attempted armed robbery. Upon arrival, the officers met with a victim who advised that she had been approached in the parking lot by a lone suspect on foot. The suspect was in possession of a knife and advised the victim that he wanted her US currency. When told that there was no currency, the suspect checked the victim's vehicle, then fled on foot without a theft occurring. The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as an African-American male, 6' to 6'3" tall, slender build, wearing black plastic on his face and a black hooded sweatshirt.
