On September 24 a student reported seeing graffiti scratched into the elevator doors in Chester Hall . The words "homosexual", "gay", "faggot" were considered offensive by the student.
In working towards being a more respectful campus, targeted groups have requested notification to the campus when actions like this graffiti occur. Regardless of the intent of the graffiti, it does demean and devalue members of our community and is negatively interpreted. Campus notification about the kinds of hurtful messages being sent increases awareness of the impact of such messages on others and on our campus environment.
Salisbury University identifies inclusiveness as a university goal and seeks to create an environment that values student and staff diversity.
