Periodically, University Police will send special bulletins to the campus community in order to keep everyone informed so that they will be better prepared to protect themselves and their property.
On Thursday, 9/5/03, University Police received a report of the theft of a wallet. This is the second incident since 8/15/03. The theft occurred between 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. from an office on the 2nd floor of Henson Hall. The wallet was taken from a purse that had been placed in a desk drawer. The occupant of the office was in and out of the office several times during the afternoon. Credits card from the stolen wallet were then used to make purchases off campus.
During the 8/15/03 incident, a wallet and contents were stolen from an office on the 2nd floor of Fulton Hall. The theft occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. while the occupant was out of the office for a meeting. The wallet was taken from a purse that was sitting on the floor next to a desk. In addition to the wallet, a credit card was removed from a checkbook.
Office Security Tips:
- Do not leave your wallet/purse in an unlocked desk or cabinet, or out in the open.
- Lock your desk when you leave the office.
- Lock unoccupied rooms and offices even if you leave for only a minute.
It takes a thief only seconds to enter an open room and steal your property. Report suspicious persons or activity to the University Police, x3-6222 or 410-543-6222.
