The following information is being provided by the University Police because it occurred on Princeton Avenue, an area where students live and in close proximity to the University. The victim was not a student.

Salisbury City Police Department
On January 21, 2003, at approx. 2:53 a.m., officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to a residence in the 300 block of Princeton Avenue for an assault with a firearm. Upon arrival, the officers found a victim that had sustained a single gunshot wound to the right forearm. A preliminary investigation revealed that a witness was accosted outside by an unknown suspect that brandished a firearm and demanded entry into the residence. When entry was refused, the suspect fired several shots into the door, striking the victim's arm. The suspect then fled the area on foot. The victim was transported to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center where the victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is described as a light complected black male, approx. 5'5" to 5'6" in height with a medium build and wearing dark clothing.
