On Wed., 10/9/02, between the hours of 2pm-3pm, an unknown person went into an office located on the first floor of Holloway Hall and took a wallet and contents. The occupant returned but did not realize at the time that the wallet had been stolen. The victim only noticed that the wallet was missing when he received a phone call from the security division of one of his credit card companies. By the time he was able to cancel his credit cards, someone had already used credit cards at various off-campus locations.
In a effort to prevent others on campus from being victimized, the following office security tips are offered:
Office Security
- Do not leave your wallet/purse in an unlocked desk or cabinet, or out in the open.
- Lock your desk when you leave the office.
- Lock unoccupied rooms and offices even if you leave for only a minute. It takes a thief 10 seconds or less to enter an open room and steal your property.
- Report suspicious persons or activity to the University Police, x3-6222 or 410-543-6222.
