Although no one was spotted doing the Charleston, the Salisbury University President’s Club ‘Roaring ‘20s Celebration’ had over 100 laughing and chatting guests, some ladies wearing feathery flapper head dresses and gentlemen sporting straw boater hats in an evening which saluted generosity.
Dr. Peter and Judy Jackson opened their home and extensive grounds on the Wicomico River to the party and SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach pinned three new members of the Sea Gull Society: Niel and Helen Carey, Kathryn Washburn and Liz and Garrett Layton. They joined the ranks of 75 others whose gifts to the University have exceeded $100,000. Other Sea Gull Society members present were the Jacksons, Dara and Henry Hanna, and Rick Givens.
Dudley-Eshbach thanked all of the President’s Club attendees, who each donate $1,000 annually to the University, and whose members range from faculty and staff to business and community leaders. Membership has now exceeded 400.
The Jacksons, who are benefactors of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra, the Jackson Chamber Music Series and other music ensembles at SU, were warmly thanked for their latest act of generosity—pitch perfect hosts.
