Golf Classic 2017
Salisbury University’s 33rd annual Golf Classic raised over $33,000 to help future Sea Gull students. The event was held at Glen Riddle Golf Club in Berlin, MD, on Tuesday, May 9.
“Our annual tournament is a success because of the great group of people participating,” said Amy Waters, SU’s director of donor relations and special events. “The turnout from our local and regional businesses with continual sponsorship support shows their commitment to the University and our students. We can’t thank them enough.”
Some 108 players on 27 teams competed this year for prizes and bragging rights. Among them were University System of Maryland Regent Robert Rauch and former Regent Bill Wood. First place net and gross winners, respectively, were The Bank of Delmarva (Joe Gordy, Matthew Bounds, Larry Dernulc) and Chris Mason, Esq. (Chris Mason, Lee Mason, Jon Patrowicz, Shawn Thomas). Thomas also won closest to the pin and, for the second consecutive year, longest drive went to David Ridley.
The tournament’s gold sponsor was The Mason Companies; silver sponsor was Black Diamond Catering; and bronze sponsors were Pritchett Controls, Inc., Whiting-Turner Contracting Co., and Blind Industries and Services of Maryland. The day-long event wrapped up with awards, prizes and a barbecue picnic.
