From a free luncheon with Sammy the Sea Gull to hundreds of dollars in door prizes, Salisbury University showed its appreciation to more than 750 faculty and staff members attending Employee Appreciation Day festivities. Staff Senate President Paul Gasior welcomed lunchtime guests, while Senate members drew names for prizes that included gift certificates, Ward Museum books and prints, and Vera Bradley gift baskets.
The University Bookstore offered a 25 percent discount on SU apparel and gifts, and employees were presented with a list of local merchants providing discounts and special offers. Those attending also had the opportunity to participate in scavenger hunt-style games for prizes. A second event was held in the evening for night shift employees.
"We are deeply appreciative of the generosity of President Janet Dudley-Eshbach and the hard work of the Dining Services staff," said Gasior.
"They helped make this an event to remember."
The daytime ceremony culminated with recognition of SU's 2011-12 Employees of the Month by Dr. Diane Allen, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs. She also announced SU Web Communications Manager Todd Smith as Employee of the Year, an honor that earned him a $1,000 check.
