Officers

President: Samantha Livingston

Hello! My name is Samantha Livingston (will answer to Sam) and I am currently a senior studying Philosophy. I love being outdoors and doing anything which involves water; especially, canoeing, surfing, and swimming. My main areas of interest in Philosophy deal with existentialism and studies of the self in relation to the world. The philosophy club and department has been a great place for me in college so far, allowing me to meet some of my best friends and have a clearer idea of what kinds of careers interest me the most. As your president, I am willing and always available to help you with anything philosophical, academic, or personal that college throws your way.

Secretary: Aikaterini "Kat" Stamoulis

Hi, Kat Stamoulis here (also responds to Squirrel or Keiden). I am a senior, majoring in Gender Studies with a Philosophy minor. My introduction to formal philosophy was existentialism and there was no turning back from that point. I love good conversation and debate but my favorite topics include gender identity and politics, queer identites, and human sexuality. A music lover of all genres (excluding country and polka), lover of literature, and star gazing. If you spend any of you time thinking about the why's, what's, and how's then come on out and see what the Philosophy Society is all about!

Treasurer: Nicholas Calkins

Hey, I’m Nick. I’m a sophomore philosophy and English major, returning to the Philosophical Society for my third semester and first as an officer (Treasurer). Joining the club was a perfect supplement to my formerly solitary study, while also introducing me to a welcoming atmosphere and interesting people. Professors and members alike will gladly discuss any topic under the philosophical sun. As for myself, I’m likewise open, though especially interested in existentialism, metaphysics, and any literature exploring the two. Outside of philosophy, electronica, post-rock, fantasy/sci-fi novels and Nintendo games are my primary areas of study.

If you are at all philosophically inclined, I encourage you to come to an event and check the club out yourself. If you have any questions about the club or myself, feel free to talk to/email me anytime.
