Scholarship Information

A.L. Fleming Memorial Scholarship
Application Due Date: March 1, 2010

Application   (Word Document)

This $500, one-year scholarship is awarded to two juniors pursing a major in the Perdue School of Business.  The student must have 60 credits completed and be eligible for admission to one of the upper division (professional) programs in the Perdue School.  They must be a full-time student with a minimum overall GPA of 3.5 in all college work already completed.  This student will have demonstrated outstanding leadership potential and exceptional academics.

Selection will be completed by April1, 2010.

Beta Gamma Sigma Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a junior, senior or master’s student. The chapter may select a current chapter member, an alumnus of the chapter or a student who will be invited to become a Beta Gamma Sigma member during the spring of the nominating year. Each chapter’s scholarship recipient must complete the Beta Gamma Sigma scholarship application, including the required essay. Funding for this scholarship is from the Beta Gamma Sigma Society and the dean of the business school.  For more information please see the Student President of Beta Gamma Sigma.

The Burke Family Information Systems Scholarship Program
Application Due Date: March 1, 2010

To recognize an Information systems major who has demonstrated outstanding potential in the Information Technology field. The $500 scholarship in nonrenewable and will be awarded to a rising sophomore or junior in good standing in the Perdue School of Business. Students must be full time and have a minimum 3.0 GPA in all college work already completed, including transfer work, if any. Particular consideration is given to students that are actively involved with information systems and technology and are interested in becoming a Business Analyst, Technology Specialist, Project Manager, or Information Technology Consultant.

Selection will be completed by April 1, 2010.

Calafiura Scholarship

This $1,500 scholarship is awarded to a full-time senior or rising senior accounting major for his/her final one or two semesters. Students must have completed, or be in the process of completing at the time of application, the following courses: two principles courses, two intermediate courses and one elective accounting course. The student must be eligible with and maintain a minimum of a 2.8 overall GPA, with a minimum 3.0 GPA in all accounting courses. The most recent completed semester’s GPA will be utilized. Interested applicants must apply in writing to obtain consideration for this scholarship.  Applications may be obtained from the Accounting Department Chair of the Perdue School.

Delmarva Chapter, Institute of Management Accountants Award

The Institute of Management Accountants Award is an unencumbered gift to an outstanding senior in accounting and is based on academic performance, leadership, and involvement in campus and community activities.  For more information please see the Accounting Department Chair of the Perdue School.

Dolle Scholarship for Current Students
Application Due Date: March 1, 2010

This $1,000, one-year scholarship is awarded to a rising junior pursing a major in the Perdue School of Business.  The student must have 60 credits completed and be eligible for admission to one of the upper division (professional) programs in the Perdue School.  They must be a full-time student with a minimum overall GPA of 3.25 in all college work already completed.  Students who are recipients of any other Perdue School tuition assistance scholarships are not eligible for the Dolle scholarship.  Students must submit written application and two letters of recommendation.  Retention of the scholarship requires maintenance of a 3.25 GPA.

Selection will be completed by April 1, 2010.

Dolle Scholarship for Transfer Students
Application Due Date: August 1, 2009

This $1,000, one-year scholarship is awarded to an incoming transfer student that is a  rising junior with a major in the Perdue School of Business.  The student must have 60 credits completed and be eligible for admission to one of the upper division (professional) programs in the Perdue School.  They must be a full-time student with a minimum overall GPA of 3.25 in all college work already completed.  Students who are recipients of any other Perdue School tuition assistance scholarships are not eligible for the Dolle scholarship.  Students must submit written applications and two letters of recommendation.  Retention of the scholarship requires maintenance of a 3.25 GPA.

Selection will be completed by September 15, 2010.

Holland Business Scholarship
Application Due Date: March 1, 2010

The $2,000 W. Tracy and Frances Lord Holland Scholarship is awarded annually to a rising junior or senior in good standing in the Perdue School of Business who has demonstrated financial need and is a resident of Wicomico County.  This award is renewable, pending the availability of funds, based on the maintenance of the above criteria.  Students must submit written applications and two letters of recommendation.

Khazeh Family Distinguished Senior Awards
Application Due Date: March 1, 2010

Awarded annually in honor of Dr. Kashi Khazeh's parents to recognize two distinguished Perdue School graduating seniors, whose primary fields are finance or international business concentration.  The recipients MUST have a minimum 3.33 cumulative grade point average as well as a minimum 3.55 grade point average in all bona fide finance/international business courses already completed.  The aforementioned seniors, MUST also have demonstrated leadership roles and have been involved in extracurricular activities.

Application Process:

This award has been established in honor of Dr. Khazeh's parents and carries with it a US Series EE Savings Bond with a face value of $1,000. 

I. Minimum qualifications for consideration are:

1. applicant MUST have finance/international business concentration as their primary major;
2. graduation in December or May of the academic year in which the award is given;
3. at least a 3.33 cumulative GPA and a 3.55 GPA in all bona fide
finance/international courses already completed.

II. Complete the award application and at least one reference letter.  Please note: Your application MUST include an essay specifically addressing:

1. leadership roles;
2. extracurricular activities;
3. other awards and honors;
4. and why you feel you should be selected.

Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants Award

This award is presented annually to a junior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in accounting, ranking in the top 10 percent of the class, and who has evidenced leadership or involvement in campus, community and professional activities.  For additional information please see the Accounting Department Chair.

Perdue Scholarships

The Franklin P. Perdue School of Business awards a number of four-year scholarships based on outstanding scholastic achievement to entering freshmen. For consideration, students must have a combined SAT score of at least 1875 and a high school grade point average of 3.3 or higher. These minimum qualifications place them in a pool where they are then judged competitively. Recipients must maintain a 3.3 or better grade point average, complete at least 30 credits per year and pursue one of the majors in the Perdue School of Business.  For more information contact the Advising Services Coordinator.

Piepenbring Memorial Scholarship
Application Due Date: March 1, 2010

One scholarship is awarded annually from the Craig N. Piepenbring Memorial Fund to a rising sophomore or junior in good standing in the Perdue School of Business.  Particular consideration is given to students actively involved in student activities on the SU campus.  Submit written application and two letters of recommendation.

The Salisbury Rotary International Club awards are presented to students in the Perdue School of Business who have demonstrated outstanding ability. Selection is based on resident status, academic performance and financial need.

School of Business Outstanding Senior Award

Each year the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business presents awards to senior students from each major/concentration area. These non-monetary awards are based on outstanding academic performance and input from faculty in each area of concentration.  For more information see the Advising Services Coordinator.

Scott N. Ralston Memorial Scholarship
Application Due Date: March 1, 2010

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a junior economics major enrolled in the Perdue School of Business.  If there is no eligible economics major in a given year, then students in finance or business administration with a track in economics will be considered.  Students must have completed 60 credits, be fulltime and have a minimum 3.3 overall GPA in all college work already completed, including transfer work.  If the students being considered are finance or business administration majors in the economics track, they must be admissible to the upper division program.   Submit written application and one letter of recommendation.

Trinity Transport Program Scholarship

Purpose: The purpose of the donation shall be to create a scholarship program that will avail high-quality students a financial award and an internship opportunity in the transportation industry.

Requirements:
a. The Trinity Transport Scholarship will be awarded to students of promise who meet the following criteria:
  i. Eligible students must be of a major of study within the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business.   (Specific fields of interest/majors will be determined annually by Trinity Transport, Inc.)
  ii. Eligible students must be of junior status.
  iii. Eligible students must maintain a grade point average of no less than a 3.3.
  iv. Eligible students must have the desire and ability to complete a 20 hour per academic week  internship during the course of the fall and spring semesters of their junior year and a 40 hour per week internship during the summer of between their junior and senior years of study.

b. The Trinity Transport Scholarship Program can provide for the full funding for tuition, room, board, books, fees and associated expenses for each awarded student.
  i. Two awards of $10,000 each shall be made
  ii. This scholarship is renewable for a $5,000 award for the student(s) senior year so long as the above noted criteria are maintained and the student expresses and interest in a career in the transportation industry.  For more information visit Perdue Student Services.

Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award
Application Due Date: March 1, 2010

The Student Achievement Award is a collaborative effort between Salisbury University and The Wall Street Journal.  The award package includes the following:

  • A commemorative award medallion made of sculpted brass embedded in a Lucite paperweight.

  • A one-year subscription to The Wall Street Journal, in both print and online, beginning in September.

  • A published listing of the winner's name in a full-page announcement in The Wall Street Journal.

  • A congratulatory letter from The Wall Street Journal.

The minimum criteria for consideration is:

1. Junior Status (60 or more credits already completed);
2. A cumulative average of at least a 3.3;
3. Fulltime status (12 credits a semester) and at least 24 credits completed at SU prior to the current term.

Selection will be completed by April 2, 2010.
