INFO 111 Business Microcomputer Use is a one-credit hour on-line course that is a prerequisite for numerous business courses, specifically for INFO 211 a requirement for admission into the Perdue Professional Program. (Note: If you have taken or have transfer credit for COSC 116, you do not have to take INFO 111.)

Do I have to take INFO 111 if I already know how to use the MS Office tools?

If you have prior knowledge and experience specifically with MS Excel and MS Access you may register to take a proficiency exam. Passing the exam waives the course as a pre-requisite for other courses which require it, but you do not get the 1-hour credit for the course. Failing the exam means you must enroll in INFO 111.

How can I review for the exam?

You are encouraged to review for the exam by acquiring and studying the tutorials in the following textbook used in INFO 111 (available in the SU bookstore):

New Perspectives on Microsoft Office 2007, First Course, Windows XP Edition. Cengage Learning.

What is the exam like?

The exam consists of 2 sections, with a total 150 multiple choice questions about Excel and Access. It is delivered via MyClasses in one of the SU labs on campus at scheduled 2-hour time periods. You must register in advance so that we can enroll you in MyClasses. No books, notes, or other supporting materials are allowed, but you will be able to open up Excel and Access if you choose.

How do I register? Does it cost anything?

The cost of the exam is $15. You may only take the exam once. You can register in the Office of Student Services in the Perdue Hall 132, and can pay by swiping your Gull card. Make sure your Gull Card has $15 on it prior to registering. You may add money to your Gull Card online or in the Cashiers Office. If you are coming to campus only on the day of the exam, please come early enough to register.
