Applied Business Learning Experience (ABLE)

Announcements

Beginning Fall 2011, students planning to complete an ABLE (490) course will not be required to pay -in advance- the $15 fee to obtain the ABLE handbook. Instead, the $15 fee will be imposed when the student actually enrolls in the 490 course. An additional line item will be on their bill indicating a course fee.

The process is now online! Students will need to complete an online application via: https://www2.salisbury.edu/able/app.  Information on how to use the online application was emailed to students' SU accounts.

The previously used ABLE handbook is available in the "ABLE for Students" section.  Students may also stop in to Student Services (PH 132) to pick up a copy of the ABLE handbook-if they need it-while supplies last.

Deadlines

Please note the following deadlines for students to submit their online application if they plan to intern during a particular semester:

  • Spring 2012: January 10, 2012
  • Summer 2012: May 2, 2012
  • Fall 2012: August 27, 2012

Prior to enrolling in an ABLE (490) course:

Students enrolled in BUAD 300 are required to attend a mandatory class meeting, titled "ABLE Introduction Workshop" which explains the process for enrolling in the 3-credit ABLE course. It will also provide students with valuable information to help them when searching for an internship.

After enrolling in an ABLE (490) course:

All students will also have to complete a MANDATORY Online Pre-Internship Seminar prior to the first 490 class meeting. The goal for this seminar is to better prepare you for your internship experience by discussing what is expected of you by your employer and in the 3-credit 490 course. The online seminar will be in your 490 course in MyClasses and will be available shortly after enrolling in the course.  Completion of the online seminar will be recorded and shared with your 490 professor.
