Student Entrepreneurs Featured During National Business Women’s Week
The Perdue School of Business recognized National Business Women’s Week, October 16-20. Since 1928, the week has acknowledged the accomplishments of working women and their important role in the business community. To celebrate the week, the Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Hub featured student entrepreneur speakers Lindsay Jones, owner of Frosted., and Megan Newcomer, CEO of Viyan Motorsports.
Lindsay Jones is a freshman at SU, living in our Entrepreneurship Living and Learning Community. She started Frosted. as a student at Stephen Decatur High School. She began baking when she was 12 years old and it has become a part of her lifestyle. Lindsay shared how she got started, what obstacles she experienced and even brought in some of her gourmet cupcakes, which sold out!
Megan Newcomer is a senior at Salisbury University. Megan and her team are two time Shore Hatchery winners and two time Entrepreneurship Competition winners. From their experience in the entrepreneurship programs, her team has created Viyan Motorsports. Viyan Motorsports seeks to inspire humanity, culture and safety across the motorcycle industry. They hope to launch their product to the market this December. Megan shared her experiences with the competitions and spoke about how she and her team got started and their future plans.
