October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Women Supporting Women is a regional breast cancer support organization that was started in 1993 right here in Salisbury. Its mission is to provide awareness, education and support to anyone affected by breast cancer. They have support groups in Dorchester, Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset counties once a month.

  • Lift chair loaner program
  • Lending library
  • Monthly newsletter
  • Mentoring services
  • Post-surgery comfort pillows
  • Community education speakers
  • Bras and prostheses

Women Supporting Women provides services to those traveling through the breast cancer journey, which can be a stressful and life altering time in their lives. Because its funding comes from the community through many avenues, they are spending donations wisely and therefore appreciate having interns available through the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business. Women Supporting Women has utilized interns for the past five years. They are an integral part of the organization.
