Introducing “Marketing Excellence”
The Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University has launched a new club, Marketing Excellence (ME). This club offers students’ opportunities to develop professionalism, improve communication skills, and apply theory through seminars, guest speakers, and regional and national competitions. Salisbury University had three marketing clubs: Sales Club, American Marketing Association and Direct Marketing Association of Washington-Educational Foundation (Student Ambassador Program). The plan was to create a new marketing club that would merge the best of each of those clubs into one, as they all interrelated. The slogan for Marketing Excellence is “It’s All About ME.” This is the guiding theme and mission of ME, an organization devoted to the skill and professional development of the areas future business leaders.
The idea behind the creation of a new unified marketing club emerged at the start of the spring 2014 semester. The planning committee for the new club was comprised of AMA advisor Kirsten Passyn and marketing professor Paula Morris, along with marketing students interested in organizing the club for their fellow business students.
The objective for Marketing Excellence’s planning committee was to have the structure of the new organization in place by the end of the spring semester and ready for implementation in the fall semester. The planning committee kicked off the fall 2014 semester with an interest group open to all Salisbury University students. Marketing Excellence wishes to create a coalition of bright and powerful minds, working together to build professional excellence.
