Perdue School Earns AACSB Re-Accreditation

The following PSB students were winners for the Maryland Phi Beta Lambda Competitive Event Program held on May 8, 2014:

  • Erlin Garcia, First Place in Human Resource Management and First Place in Organizational Behavior and Leadership
  • Ngoc-My (Tracee) Le, First Place in Management Concepts and Third Place in International Business
  • Vincent Cimini, Second Place in Management Concepts
  • Rachael Reiter, First Place in Accounting Analysis and Decision Making and Second Place in Accounting Principles
  • David Widman, First Place in Accounting Principles and First Place in Sports Management and Marketing
  • Frances Sherlock, First Place in Business Law
  • Carol Kahwa, First Place in Computer Concepts and Second Place in International Business
  • Ankit Harkhani, First Place in Cost Accounting and First Place in Personal Finance
  • Aakash Patel, Third Place in Entrepreneurship Concepts
  • Megan Spence, Second Place in Personal Finance

This competition was against students from the Stevenson University Chapter and within the Salisbury University Chapter. Out of the 17 registered events, Salisbury Phi Beta Lambda placed among 12 of these events, earning a total of 16 wins.

Ani Mathers published a paper titled “Strategic Credit Line Usage and Performance”, co-authored with Dr. Atay Kizilaslan, in the summer issue of the Journal of Financial Research. The paper can be found online.

Kashi Khazeh presented the co-authored paper, with Leonard Arvi, “Emerging Markets and Value-at-Risk: A Reflection for Multinational Enterprises” at the 27th International Business Research Conference in Toronto, Canada (June 2014). Published in the conference proceedings.

Hoffman, R.C., Shipper, F.M., Davy, J. A., & Rotondo, D. M. published “A Cross-Culture Study of Managerial Skills and Effectiveness: New Insights or Back to Basics?” in the International Journal of Organizational Analysis, 22(3): 372-398.

SU Management Faculty authored a book on “Shared Entrepreneurship”

The book Shared Entrepreneurship: A Path to Engaged Employee Ownership co-authored by Profs. Shipper, Adams, Brown, Calo, Decker, Hoffman, Roche, Street, M., Street, V., and Weer has been selected by the Aspen Institute to be featured on its Case Place website.

Mike Koval chaired a panel discussion titled “Jack is Back! How Bistro 24 has been Adapted and Transformed” at the annual national conference of the Academy of Legal Studies of Business in Seattle in August. The panel included business law professors from New York, Texas, California and Florida, who discussed how they have used and adapted Mike’s first-day-of-class activity for Legal Environment, which won the ALSB Master Teacher competition two years ago, in their own law courses and classrooms. Mike also presented a paper, “Sex, Beer, Wings, and Lawsuits: Using Hooters to Teach Employment Law,” at the same conference.

Former Dean Dr. Bob Wood, was honored by Beta Alpha Psi as “Dean of the Year” at its annual conference.
