Perdue School Team Finalist in the Fifth International ERPsim Competition
Amina Tsoreava, Katie Jones
and Travis Schrader
In April 2013, the ERPsim Lab at HEC Montreal, Quebec, Canada announced the Fifth International ERPsim Student Competition. Students from around the world were invited to register in teams of three to demonstrate their ability to manage a virtual company with a real-life SAP Enterprise Resource Planning system. A new feature of the competition was a Business Intelligence Dashboard designed for the ERPsim game that students could access in real time to gauge the virtual market and plan a logistics strategy.
On April 19, the first Perdue team – Amina Tsoreava, Katie Jones and Travis Schrader – eagerly awaited the start of their virtual qualifying round. Competing teams from as far away as Greece, Malaysia and the Philippines joined in a general Skype conversation during a heated session of virtual buying and selling to support market position. The HEC Montreal moderator stated that this was one of the most intense rounds he had ever seen. After five qualifying rounds of 30+ teams and a final competition of the top 10 teams, SU, in its inaugural attempt, placed eighth overall. Congratulations to the team and coach, Dr. Kathie Wright – their excellent strategic planning and smoothly coordinated execution were a fine demonstration of the capability of our students!
