Another summer is drawing to a close. It may just be me, but it seems as if they get shorter every year. The students have returned and we’re preparing for a busy fall.
This year, the Perdue School welcomes four new faculty members to Salisbury University. Dr. David J. Emerson joins us as an assistant professor of accounting. David earned his Ph.D. in accounting at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, and his M.B.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. He is a registered Certified Public Accountant and was designated as a Dean’s Scholar for his academic performance at Virginia Commonwealth University. David has presented his research at several national and regional conferences and has several articles published in peer-reviewed journals. His current research interests include technology and collaborative learning, organizational culture and whistle-blowing.
Dr. Michael Schuldt also joins us as an assistant professor of accounting. Before joining the Perdue School, Michael was at The University of Texas at San Antonio, where he received his Ph.D. in business administration with an emphasis in accounting. Michael did his undergraduate work at the University of Missouri-Columbia where he graduated with a B.S. in accounting. He completed his J.D. at the University of Missouri-Columbia where he was a member and contributing author on the Missouri Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. Michael has held numerous positions in public accounting and industry, including senior tax manager and director. His current research interests include regulation of accounting disclosure, international financial recording standards and corporate taxation.
Dr. Yinghao Zhang joins us as an assistant professor of information and decision sciences. Prior to his arrival at SU, Yinghao earned his Ph.D. in operations management at the University of Minnesota. He also holds a B.S. in management information systems from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Yinghao has presented his research at several international and national conferences. His current research interests include behavioral operations management and supply chain management.
Dr. Efua Obeng joins us as a visiting assistant professor of marketing. Efua earned her Ph.D. in marketing at the University of Pittsburgh. Efua did her undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where she graduated with a B.S. in business administration. She also received an M.A. from Duke University. Efua has presented her research at national and regional conferences. Her current research interests include marketing strategy, retail competition and marketing capabilities.
The fall semester is packed. In addition to classes, the Business in the Atrium program, Meet the Firms, THE Meeting and our National Business Women’s Week emphasis return this fall. John Lauer, retired chairman of the board of Diebold, Inc. joins us as our Executive Leadership Series speaker in October. Perdue Hall also will host the MACPA Town Hall Meeting, the TGM Banking Conference and the Shore Fraud Conference.
All and all, lots of exciting things are happening in Perdue Hall. Please stop by and see what all of the excitement is about.
