Catching Up With Tim McFadden ...
Tim McFadden, a 2006 graduate of the Perdue School of Business and previous winner of the Bernstein Business Plan Competition, is the owner of McFadden Art Glass custom glassblowing studio and gallery in Baltimore. At his studio, Tim creates custom works of art for clients in addition to teaching individual/group beginner workshops and local community college and university glassblowing programs.
Tim's business model for creating the glassblowing studio spawned from participating in the Bernstein competition while attending SU. He spent his final semester at SU securing bank loans, property and equipment so that he was able to start McFadden Art Glass weeks after graduation. The business plan he created while at SU is what convinced the bank to issue his start-up loan. McFadden Art Glass is now thriving after almost seven years of educating and illuminating Baltimore with glass.
Tim contributes much of the success of the business to the glass program and Perdue School and the faculty who were so involved in helping him with his goal of a small business start-up. They played an important role in mentoring him outside of the classroom.
Tim enjoys playing lacrosse and ice hockey still, and spending time with his wife Rose and two boys, Greyson, 3, and Donovan, 1. Feel free to visit Tim at his studio or contact him through the Web site www.mcfaddenartglass.com.
