RJ Batts recently received $15,000 for second place in the Shore Hatchery Competition at SU for his invention Tip Tough. In March, RJ was featured in the Inventor’s Corner as the youngest inventor at the Housewares show in Chicago.

Dr. Memo Diriker has been reelected as vice chair of Leadership Maryland.

Dr. Fati Salimian presented the co-authored paper with Drs. Kashi Khazeh, Herman Manakyan and Bob Winder titled “Influence of Asian Equity Markets on Major European Stock Exchanges” at the March 2017 annual international meeting of the Academic and Business Research Institute in Asheville, North Carolina. The paper was published in the conference proceedings.

Dr. Leonard Arvi conducted a financial literacy train-the-trainer program for the Wicomico County’s ProjectREAD adult literacy campaign on Saturday, January 28, at the May Literacy Center in Conway Hall. Some 15 adult literacy coaches attended the financial literacy training program. More details are at www.wicomicolibrary.org/project-read. United Way of the Eastern Shore supports this program.
