Catchin' Up with ... Laurène Cousyn Senior Consultant, Ernst & Young, Australia M.B.A. Alumna
After graduating with an M.B.A. from the Perdue School of Business, I returned to France, obtained my French business master diploma one month after and started working. I worked in PwC in Paris as a consultant for three and a half years. Most of the projects I did dealt with financial performance. Among the main assignments was helping firms improve their processes for their accounting closures, improve their reporting for cost-controlling processes or enhance their internal control processes with a focus on accounting, guiding them to be compliant with international accounting standards.
A year ago, I realized I missed the experiences of living in a foreign country. I decided to move abroad again and chose Australia for its exoticism! I did a lot of networking and got a job at EY Melbourne. I moved with my partner in January and it is already very exciting. I will work as a senior consultant in risk and control management.
The M.B.A. at the Perdue School has given me an exposure to international business. I have learned so much thanks to the classes and also by being around classmates with so many professional experiences. I also discovered the consulting business through the M.B.A. classes. I was able to apply to consulting positions just after graduating. Moreover, this renowned international qualification was well recognized by my first employer PwC France and now by EY Australia. This M.B.A. is a proof of my global mindset and of specific business skills. In addition, my M.B.A. at the Perdue School has given me solid skills in financial analysis, accounting and information systems that I have used since my first year of consulting. I will always remember the SAP class. That was a great opportunity to have access to SAP as a student. This knowledge in information systems and finance has helped my career progress in consulting.
